Patient Support
At Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, we believe supporting patients is an important part of care. Cancer treatment often involves numerous specialists, procedures and therapies, and can often be overwhelming. That’s why cancer care encompasses a range of support services that address everything from education and care management assistance, to support groups and spiritual care.
We offer a variety of services to assist you throughout your care, including:
- Oncology nurse navigator – A professional R.N. with oncology-specific clinical knowledge who offers individualized assistance to patients, families and caregivers is available to help overcome healthcare system barriers and help navigate patients through their cancer journey to ensure key elements of quality care are delivered. To contact, please call (573) 776-2719.
- Cancer education resources – We offer a wide range of educational resources to help patients and family members learn more about cancer, treatment and recovery.
- Nutritional counseling – Eating the right kinds of foods before, during and after treatment can help you feel better and stay stronger. Registered dietitians can help you incorporate proper nutrition to regain strength, rebuild tissue and feel better overall.
- Spiritual support – Chaplains are available to provide compassionate, spiritual and emotional support to you and your family.
- United Cancer Assistance Network (UCAN) – UCAN is designed to provide individualized support for area cancer patients. Their mission is to help ease the burdens of a cancer diagnosis, enhancing the quality of life experienced by local cancer patients. Their office is located inside the Danny Bell Cancer Center to offer patients easy access to UCAN’s resources. They’re a non-profit organization offering a variety of services, including transportation, nutritional supplements and wigs for those in qualifying counties. In addition, they have a resource room available for patients and their families.
