POPLAR BLUFF, MO – Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center (PBRMC) and South Central Career Center's (SCCC) Surgical Tech program have begun collaborating to support the future workforce. As the demand for skilled surgical technicians continues to rise, PBRMC is supporting training for aspiring professionals who pursue this rewarding career path.
Surgical technology is a rapidly growing field in the healthcare industry, offering numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth. With just one year of training, individuals can equip themselves with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in this in-demand profession.
Through this collaboration, students enrolled in the SCCC program will have the opportunity to gain clinical hours at PBRMC, where they will work alongside experienced surgical teams in a real-world healthcare environment.
What sets the SCCC program apart is its hybrid nature, combining comprehensive classroom instruction both in person (two days/week) and online (two days/week) with hands-on, practical training. “We understand the importance of providing a well-rounded education that prepares students for the challenges they will face in their careers,” said Misty Hathcock, SCCC program director.
As surgical technicians, individuals play a vital role in maintaining a sterile environment during surgical procedures and possess expert knowledge of the equipment and supplies required for each operation.
"At PBRMC, we recognize the increasing demand for skilled surgical technicians and are committed to fostering their development," said Ashely Lepold, PBRMC surgical services director. “Our collaboration with South Central Career Center gives these students the skills and knowledge necessary to work in surgical care and make a difference in the lives of patients."
PBRMC encourages all motivated and driven individuals who are passionate about healthcare and enjoy working in a fast-paced, challenging environment to apply to the surgical tech program. Deadline is fast approaching, May 31.
