PBRMC Nurse Honored with Daisy Award
4/18/2025
POPLAR BLUFF, MO, April 18, 2025 – Jenny Earnheart, R.N., of Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center was recently honored with The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation's programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day.
The nomination submitted read, “My mother unexpectedly entered the hospital, and we were all stressed out. My family and I were doing everything we could to comfort our mother, but she heavily relied on her dog for emotional support. When our nurse Jenny heard of this, she quickly sat down with my mom, showed her pictures of her dog, and had a conversation with her. Soon after, my mom was smiling and giggling. Even when Jenny was busy with other patients, she took the time to connect with my mom, and that meant the world.”
Earnheart has been a registered nurse for more than 5 years and currently provides care to rehabilitation patients who require an intensive level of physical, occupational, or speech therapy. She also collaborates with the therapy team, supporting patients and their caregivers as they prepare to return home.
The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
“As a nurse in our Rehab unit, she consistently demonstrates the heart of our profession—patience, kindness, and deep compassion. Her ability to connect with patients and provide comfort during some of their most vulnerable moments is truly inspiring. We are proud to recognize Jenny with the DAISY Award for the exceptional care she provides every day,” said Chief Nursing Officer Carla Rider.

Patrick Barnes Grants for Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice Projects, medical mission grants and their new health equity grant programs.
