Parallel between military service and healthcare is rooted in a greater mission
POPLAR BLUFF, MO - In celebration of Veterans Day, Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center (PBRMC) is celebrating the staff who have served and are currently serving in the United States Military.
“Veterans day is a special day to recognize and thank our PBRMC Veteran employees. Honor, sacrifice, duty, commitment, are just some of the common values that each Veteran carries with him/herself,” said CEO Rick Naegler. “We are so fortunate to have these veterans as part of our PBRMC family, to carry those values to our mission and purpose every day to serve our community.”
Among the many Veteran staff is Education Manager Michael Willis, RN/DPN, who served 7 years in the U.S. Army.
“The Army taught me that quit is not in our vocabulary or DNA. This lesson has been invaluable throughout my EMS and nursing career,” said Willis.
Greg Grady, who is an information technology specialist at PBRMC, served in the United States Marine Corps for seven years and said the “military taught me that you will often be put in situations that you may not be prepared for, but strong mental toughness prepared me for anything.”
“In many ways, the parallel between military service and healthcare is rooted in a greater mission than self and demonstrated in their commitment to serve,” said Naegler. This Veterans Day, PBRMC proudly recognizes the many healthcare employees and their family members who have served in uniform.
Willis, Grady and fellow employed veterans and current military staff were honored Thursday, Nov. 11, with a ceremony, food and beverage, the MIA-POW table and thanked by the entire staff for their commitment to the United States Military.
